Reflects 80% of the heat back through the glass

Sunscreen roller blinds have been available for years without achieving great success. Until now, solar blinds have been considered ugly and offering poor functionality, while many architects have refused to have anything to do with them.

What’s new?

The EnergyBlinds have been designed in consultation with architects and construction consultants to ensure maximum functionality.

The demands made were among others:

  • Needs to work in a triple glazed window
  • Slender, neat cartridge
  • Discrete and barely visible guiderails
  • Pleated solar blind for superior effectiveness and ability to work well in wide windows
  • Durable mechanism for several years of unimpeded use

In addition, a unique installation function was developed for the solar blinds, with the guiderails attached with one screw at each end.

Then the EnergyBlinds are slid in from the top. The whole installation of the solar blinds only takes 3 minutes!

Sunscreen

Because the outer layer of film is highly reflective, the insulating glass does not heat up as much as usual. The product is ideally suited to work with triple glazed insulating glass units.

Solar energy reduction of over 80% can be achieved and can reduce the costs to cool a room with air conditioning systems by up to 25%!

Technical Information

The cartridge used in the solar blinds measures 40 x 40mm and comes in white (RAL9003) or naturally anodized (E6EV1) as standard.

The maximum width of a solar blind is 1800mm, with the maximum window height of 3500mm. The same model is also available with a bottom mounted version (SafeCoat 40U). SafeCoat 40 and SafeCoat 40U both come with a 5-years guarantee. If space is an issue we can also supply cartridges measuring 33 x 33 mm.

Electrically operated solar blinds require a 47 x 47 mm cartridge with Somfy 28 motor.

Big Windows

It is possible to make cartridges with a width of up to 2200mm, in which two films are installed next to each other. In these cartridges, there is a 6-10 mm space between the films.

In big windows the usual solution however, is to install two cartridges next to each other and glue the guiderails directly onto the window.

Energy Savings

EnergyBlinds pulled down at night creates an air tight space between the cold window glass and the warm indoor air, which results in a major improvement of the windows U-value.

Motorised cartridges with solar automation can be set to go down on a cloudy January day, and up on a sunny January day, allowing the sun to provide heat for the facility.
